These standards explain how Racera researches race entry routes, verifies dates, communicates uncertainty, and protects editorial independence. They apply to our race data and editorial guides.

Our editorial promise
We would rather show that a date is unknown than make an uncertain date look definitive.
The official organiser or provider is always the final authority. Racera makes its source and confidence visible so runners can decide with the right context.
Source hierarchy
The closer to the organiser, the stronger the source.
We use the source responsible for each fact. A race organiser may define the ballot; an official charity may define its own fundraising requirement. Where sources conflict, the higher and more directly responsible source takes precedence.

Official organiser sources
The race organiser’s website, entry rules, registration portal, and dated announcements are the primary authority for an event and its entry process.

Governing bodies and official series
Published standards from a governing body or official race series are used for qualification rules, championships, and series-wide policies.

Designated route providers
An organiser-listed charity, tour operator, or registration partner is authoritative for its own application window, package, price, or fundraising requirement.

Secondary sources for discovery
Reputable reporting and community tips can help us find a change, but they do not replace confirmation from an official source before we mark a detail as confirmed.
Verification workflow
How a route detail reaches Racera
Step 1
Identify the exact route
We treat ballots, qualifiers, charity places, tour packages, general entry, and official transfer routes separately because their rules and dates differ.
Step 2
Check the responsible source
A route is checked against the organisation responsible for it, with the event edition and relevant timezone considered.
Step 3
Record confidence and provenance
We preserve the source, source-check time, date confidence, and route status rather than presenting all information as equally certain.
Step 4
Review material changes
When a tracked date or status changes, the new value is reviewed and the change is retained in Racera’s route history.
Source checks are a point-in-time review, not a promise that an organiser will not change a date later. Always complete the final check on the linked official page before acting.
Date confidence
Confirmed and estimated are not the same thing.
Every date should tell you how much confidence to place in it. We do not silently turn last year's schedule into this year's fact.
Confirmed
The responsible official source has published an exact date or window for the relevant edition. The source can still revise it, so the official page remains decisive.
Estimated
The date is a useful planning estimate based on an official approximate window or established prior-edition pattern. It is never presented as confirmed.
To be announced
No dependable exact date is available. We keep the route visible without inventing a deadline and link to the best available official source.

See something wrong? Tell us plainly.
Send the page URL, the detail that looks wrong, and—if you have it—the official source showing the correction. We review the responsible source, update confirmed errors, and preserve material route-date and status changes in our audit history.

Each guide identifies when it was published, updated, and checked against its cited official sources. If Racera commissions a named specialist review in future, that reviewer and their relevant role will be identified on the article rather than implied here.

Racera is independent and is not affiliated with a race organiser, race series, or sponsor unless a page explicitly says otherwise. Organisers and providers do not receive control over our factual conclusions or confidence labels.
